Salary - $61 - $64 per hour (depending on experience) + super

About the Role:
We are recruiting a Senior Aboriginal Family Preservation and Reunification Response (AFPR) practitioner. You will provide intensive support to families, with the goal of preventing at-risk Aboriginal children from entering care, You will also work with children who have recently been placed in out-of-home care to be reunified with their families. Startig on a locum contract with the view to move to permanent ongoing.
Key Duties:
- Provide intensive outreach family support service to children or young people and their families
- Undertake accurate record keeping, including case notes, completed forms and reports as required
- Coordinating with various stakeholders, including Child Protection
- Organising family case conferences (as agreed) to establish joint case plan roles and responsibilities
- Proactively engaging families through an intensive therapeutic, evidence-informed approach
- Provide culturally sensitive service responses with a focus on healing
- Offering practical, emotional support, advocacy, coaching, skill-building, and access to social and economic resources
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant qualifications in Social Work, Diploma of Community Serivces, Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in a Family Services OR Child Protection Program
- Understanding of child, youth and family theoretical frameworks and interventions
- MARAM training and an understaning of family violence is highly desirable
- Thorough understanding of child development and the issues that vulnerable children, young people and families face, including sound knowledge of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.
You will also need to be willing to provide 2x professional references + undergo a Working with Children Check and Police Check.
