Job Description

Seeking an experienced Family Services Practitioner to provide intensive intervention and support aimed at preventing at-risk Aboriginal children from entering care. You will also aid children who have recently been placed in out-of-home care in to be reunified with their families.

Family Preservation and Reunification (FPR) Practitioner

Salary - $61 - $63 per hour (depending on experience) + super

About the Role:

The primary responsibility of AFPR Practitioners is to actively engage with Aboriginal families with children and young people, aiding them in fostering a safe and healthy family environment. The teams core aim is to prevent removal of children from homes and aid children in being reunified with their families.

Key Duties:

  • Offer intensive outreach to children or young people and their families
  • Manage and maintain accurate case records including case notes, completed forms and reports as required
  • Coordinating with various stakeholders, including Child Protection, regional ACCOs, Alliance partners, MCH services, and Community Service Organisations to develop and provide client support.
  • Participate in referral meetings with Child Protection
  • Proactively engage families through an intensive therapeutic, evidence-informed approach.
  • Provide culturally sensitive service responses with a focus on healing.
  • Offer practical, emotional support, advocacy, coaching, skill-building, and access to social and economic resources

Skills and Experience:

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree qualification in Community Services
  • A minimum 1-3yrs experience as a Practitioner in a relevant field that supports an understanding of child development and family functioning including theories of attachment, intergenerational and personal trauma as well as relevant risk assessment frameworks, service responses and interventions in working with vulnerable families.

You will also need to be willing to provide 2x professional references + undergo a Working with Children Check and Police Check.
