Hampton Park Secondary College CRT Podcast

Hi and welcome to the Hampton Park Secondary College relief teacher podcast.

We have put this together to help you make the most of your day and enjoy your time with our students!

So let’s get started!

Classes at Hampton Park Secondary commence at 9.00 so it is highly recommended you arrive no later than 8.30.

Dress code for our school is smart casual.

Traffic and parking around the school is a significant issue most days so it is imperative you allow extra travel time. We can’t stress this strongly enough. It is far better to arrive a little early than to have to battle the traffic and parking after 8.30.

You will find adequate parking in Fordholm Road at the front of the school. Please do not park in the Visitors car spaces inside the school grounds. These are for short term visits only.

Once parked head directly to the main office – simply look for the flagpoles and follow the signs.

One of the office staff will help you sign-in and will direct you to our daily organiser, Sarah. Sarah will have a detailed CRT booklet for you, and if there is time, will give you a brief induction to the school. If you are working as in education support, Cassie will be there to help you get started.

You will find the school’s CRT pack most comprehensive. It contains information
• Bell times
• Yard duty
• The names of senior staff
• School rules, guidelines and how to manage behaviour issues
• How to mark the attendance roll online

A school map and emergency procedures are also included.

Make sure you look over the CRT pack as soon as you arrive. It will make your day so much easier and more enjoyable. And as this document contains confidential information, please keep this document safe and return it to Sarah at the end of the day.

If necessary Sarah will also give you keys for the classrooms which must also be returned at the end of the day.

All of the student work for the day will be on Compass. If you prefer, you are welcome to bring your own device and use the login details for the school. If you do not have a device with you Sarah will provide one from the school.

If you have any concerns about the student work your colleagues should be able to assist. Or you may wish to speak to Sarah.

Please implement the lessons outlined and make sure you follow-up on the students’ work. Correct it where required and most importantly, please leave comments on Compass letting the class teacher know what was covered, what needs to be followed up, and if any issues arose.
Students at our school do have access to digital resources such as laptops and Ipads. Just remember these are for work tasks only and are not to be used for any other reason, nor at recess or lunch. Students should not access their phones during class time.

You will find the students at Hampton Park Secondary keen to work, helpful and enthusiastic. But occasionally behavioural issue may arise. If this does happen we ask you to implement the ‘consistent hierarchy of consequences’ procedures clearly outlined in your CRT booklet.
If you are on yard duty during the day, Sarah will let you know and help you locate a Hi Viz vest. Take your mobile with you and again if any significant issue arises, call Lyn who will be able to help.

Classes are dismissed at 3.08 on all days except Tuesday when the students finish at 1.30.
When you leave for the day, ensure the classroom is neat and tidy and all doors and windows are locked. Please turn off all lights and heaters etc. If furniture has been moved during the day please return it to its original position.

Before leaving the school please visit the office to sign out. Make sure you return the CRT pack and speak to Sarah if any issues need to be followed up.. Most importantly, make sure any classroom keys or resources are returned.

We look forward to seeing you at Hampton Park Secondary College and hope you enjoy your day with us.
