Hi and welcome to the Copperfield College Kings Park relief teacher podcast.
We have put this together to help you make the most of your day and enjoy your time with our students!
So let’s get started!
Classes at Copperfield College commence at 9.00 – so it is highly recommended you arrive at the office no later than 8.40.
And please make sure you have the right school location. Copperfield College Kings Park is the Junior Campus on Kambalda Circuit. Don’t head to the wrong campus!
Smart casual is the dress code.
You are welcome to use one of the three school car parks with the easiest access being off Gillespie Road.
On arrival you will need to head to the main office, sign-in, and ask for one of the daily organisers, Annette or Katherine. You will be given a brief induction – staffroom, toilets etc and be handed
- a CRT pack, with a map of the school
- a notebook, and
- a general key if required. The notebook is crucial for your work on the day. It will allow you access the Compass program where you will find
- the prescribed work for the students in your care and
- enable you to mark the roll for each class.
Be mindful of how important this is and make sure you arrive in time for this induction. If you are unfamiliar with using Compass please let the school know on arrival so they can help. Annette or Katherine will be more than happy to assist. On Compass you will also find information on
- Session times and
- Yard duty
Again, make sure you know how to access this information.
If you are on yard duty you will need a Hi Viz vest. Please ask one of the office staff where to locate a vest and be prepared to move promptly to your designated area at the correct time.
Please implement the lessons outlined on Compass for each class and make sure you follow-up on the students’ work, collecting it at the end of the lesson. Work can be left in the teacher’s pigeon hole or returned to Annette.
Students at our school do have access to digital resources such as laptops and notebooks. Just remember these are for work tasks only and are not to be used for any other reason.
You will find the students at Copperfield Kings Park keen to work, helpful and enthusiastic. But, occasionally behavioural issue may arrive. If you encounter persistent behavioural problems it is essential you speak to Annette or send a note to the office. Please do not allow situations to escalate beyond your capacity to manage them. Seek assistance if required.
And please note, if any student needs to leave the room for whatever reason you must provide them with a signed note. And never leave students unsupervised in classrooms. If you are unsure of these arrangements please ask. You will find the staff very accommodating and helpful.
Classes are dismissed at 3.10pm on all days.
At the end of the day please ensure your classroom is neat and tidy and turn off all lights and heaters etc. If furniture has been moved during the day please return it to its original position.
Please leave a brief summary of the work completed and any notes on what needs to be followed up. This may be done on Compass or as a hard copy.
Before leaving the school please visit the office to sign out. You will need to meet briefly with Annette and give her a quick update on your day. Please do not leave the school before you do this. Make sure you return the notebook, CRT folder and any keys.
We look forward to seeing you at Copperfield College Kings Park and hope you enjoy your day with us.
