The Role:
Tradewind is seeking a passionate and dedicated VCE English teacher to join a highly respected independent grammar school in Melbourne's West. This co-educational institution, known for its commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development, offers a full-time, ongoing role starting in Term 1, 2025.

Key Duties:
- Deliver lessons that align with the VCE English curriculum including teaching key concepts, texts, and skills prescribed for Units 1-4.
- Selecting appropriate texts, including novels, plays, poetry, and non-fiction, for study based on VCAA guidelines.
- Teach how to critically analyse these texts, including exploring themes, characters, literary techniques, and socio-cultural contexts.
- Teaching students how to write analytical essays, including structuring arguments, incorporating textual evidence, and developing critical interpretations. Providing guidance on essay planning, drafting, and revision.
- Instructing students in the analysis of language use in a variety of texts, including media articles, speeches, and advertisements
- Facilitating class discussions, debates, and oral presentations to develop students' oral communication skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Planning and implementing strategies to prepare students for VCE English examinations, including the end-of-year exam (Units 3-4).
- Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Collaborating with colleagues, including other VCE English teachers and faculty members, to share resources, strategies, and best practices for teaching VCE English effectively.
Skills & Experience:
- Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Teaching Qualifications
- Current VIT registration
- Experience in teaching Secondary English in Australia essential, with VCE experience required
- Ability to provide contact details for at least two education-based references from within the last 5 years
