About the Role:
An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated and passionate VCE Chemistry Teacher to join a Christian-focused school in Taylors Hill, located in Melbourne's West, commencing in Term 1, 2025. This role involves teaching students in Years 10-12, in a small VCE Chemistry team.

This esteemed Christian school serves approximately 1,300 students from Years 7-12 across two campuses. Known for its excellent student behaviour, the school provides a supportive teaching environment with access to learning coaches and abundant resources to foster educational success.

Key duties:

  • Design and develop engaging lesson plans and teaching materials aligned with the VCE Chemistry curriculum, delivering high-quality instruction to students, facilitating their understanding of complex chemical concepts and theories.
  • Create and administer assessments, including tests, quizzes, and exams, to evaluate student comprehension and progress.
  • Organize and supervise laboratory experiments and activities, ensuring the safety and proper handling of chemicals and equipment.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and support to help students achieve academic success.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, department members, and school administrators to enhance the overall learning experience for students and contribute to the school community.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities related to chemistry, such as science fairs, clubs, or competitions, to further enrich students' learning experiences.
  • Providing pastoral care and support to students, including spiritual guidance, counselling, and mentorship as required.
  • Incorporating Christian teachings and ethics into classroom discussions and interactions with students.
  • Upholding the mission, vision, and values of the school and actively contributing to its Christian ethos.

Skills & Experience:

  • Possess relevant qualifications in Education.
  • Hold a valid and up-to-date VIT (Victorian Institute of Teaching) registration.
  • Have full and unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • Demonstrate proven experience teaching VCE Chemistry (essential).
  • Experience in Christian or Catholic school environments is highly desirable.
  • Provide contact details for two recent, education-based referees (within the last five years)
