Job Description

Job Title: Tenancy Officer
Location: Hybrid Head Office in Cremorne with outreach to Bentleigh, Bayswater, and Vermont sites
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in women's lives? As a Tenancy Officer, you'll play a vital role in supporting renters by providing high-quality tenancy services that are trauma-informed, culturally safe, and compliant with legislation. Working with Women's Housing Ltd, a progressive organisation driving meaningful change, you'll manage a portfolio of approximately 120 properties across three key sites and engage directly with clients and stakeholders to foster positive tenancy outcomes.

This role offers a hybrid work model, with on-site presence required on Tuesdays and flexible options for outreach and remote work on other days. A community-focused and development-driven approach will see you thrive in this meaningful position.

What You'll Do

  • Tenancy Management:
    • Conduct interviews, assess eligibility, and prepare rental sign-ups.
    • Address renter issues professionally, issuing notices and attending VCAT hearings as needed.
    • Manage the end-to-end tenancy lifecycle, including inspections and compliance under the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA).
  • Engagement & Support:
    • Respond compassionately to complex renter issues and provide referrals to support services.
    • Work closely with support agencies to achieve positive outcomes for renters.
    • Conduct renter engagement activities such as house meetings.
  • Administration & Compliance:
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure KPIs are met, including rent arrears management and property vacancy timelines.
    • Monitor property safety and compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Liaise with councils, contractors, support services, and other key stakeholders.
    • Build and maintain strong professional relationships to enhance service delivery.

About You

You are a compassionate and driven individual with a knack for problem-solving and building strong relationships. You thrive in a dynamic environment and are motivated by creating meaningful change in the community.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in tenancy management or social services.
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Vic) and experience attending VCAT is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on conflict resolution and renter engagement.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office and tenancy management software.
  • A valid Victorian driver's licence (essential).
  • Working With Children Check and Police Clearance (required).

Desirable Attributes:

  • Community development focus with a passion for empowering women.
  • Flexible, fair, and adaptable to change.
  • Trauma-informed and feminist practice understanding.

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive salary in line with Level 4.1 pay scale.
  • Hybrid work model with flexible options.
  • Company-provided phone, laptop, and reimbursement for personal car use.
  • Meaningful work within a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Fortnightly supervision and ongoing professional development opportunities. How to apply and further information:
