In the role of Teacher Aide (TA), you will have the opportunity to work as a valued member of Somerville House's Learning Development Department in the Senior School.
You will have excellent organisational skills, demonstrate highly effective communication skills and enjoy working as a part of a dynamic team. Confidence to support students' literacy and numeracy development essential.
Line of Responsibility
This position reports directly to the Head of Learning and Development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Participate in regular co-planning and feedback sessions.
* Collaborate with teachers, to plan, deliver and reflect upon learning opportunities.
* Communicate effectively with students and develop positive relationships in supporting students within the classroom setting, some of whom may have additional needs or may have EAL/D.
* Effectively supporting those students who may have EAL/D, using specific programs to aid their progress and attainment.
* Engage in training for delivery of structured interventions in literacy, numeracy and learning behaviours.
* Work with a range of students, to extend, consolidate and enrich learning.
* Work alongside students, to enhance connection with learning, development of confidence, motivation, and productive learning habits.
* Provide quality one-on-one and group learning experiences.
* Assist students in their readiness for learning.
* Demonstrate a growth mindset through active participation in professional learning opportunities regarding inclusive classroom pedagogy, maximising student engagement and enhancing learning behaviours.
* Demonstrate enthusiasm and initiative, and a willingness to share expertise and ideas
* Develop an understanding of individual students' needs, and maintaining confidentiality around this information.
* Model inclusive language and behaviour.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
* Certificate IV or a higher qualification in Education Support or the partial/ completion of a Bachelor of Education.
* Professional work experience in a school or education setting, directly supporting students' learning outcomes.
* First Aid qualification.
* Paid Working with Children Blue Card prior to commencement
* Certificate or training in EAL/D, dyslexia, autism or moderate learning difficulties (highly desirable).
