Senior Practitioner: Fixed-Term Contract

Mount Isa- 18 months | SCHADS 5

Are you a therapeutic practitioner, passionate about working with children and young people impacted by trauma?

This is your chance to step into a leadership role that blends direct therapeutic support with mentoring and practice development.

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced and confident Senior Practitioner to join a multidisciplinary team delivering trauma-informed counselling and case management to children, young people and their caregivers.

As a Senior Practitioner, you'll work collaboratively to:

  • Support complex clients through tailored, evidence-informed therapeutic practice

  • Provide high-level case conceptualisation and practice guidance to team members

  • Manage referral and intake processes, support compliance and contribute to reporting

  • Work closely with the program manager to ensure quality, culturally responsive service delivery aligned to program goals

What You Bring

✔ A degree in Social Work or Psychology
✔ Minimum of 3 years' therapeutic experience with children and young people impacted by trauma
✔ Demonstrated knowledge of child development, trauma, and relevant therapeutic frameworks
✔ Skills in intake, risk and psychosocial assessment, safety planning and interagency collaboration
✔ Experience leading or mentoring practitioners and contributing to team development
✔ Understanding of cultural safety for First Nations children, families and communities
✔ Valid Blue Card, Disability Worker Screening, and open QLD driver's licence
