Job Description:
As a Senior Mental Health Social Worker, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive support to individuals with complex mental health, social, and legal needs. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and advocate for participants involved in a unique program. You will coordinate and monitor services to ensure that clients are referred to appropriate support, engage in therapeutic interventions, and receive tailored assistance to help them achieve their goals. The role will involve working with a forensic case load so exposure to the criminal justice service is a must.

Key Duties:

  • Conduct interviews, assessments, and on-site visits to determine the needs of participants.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to develop and implement treatment plans addressing mental health and offending risks.
  • Monitor participant progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide crisis support, including the implementation of safety plans and coordination with mental health services.
  • Maintain accurate participant records to support reporting and legal compliance.
  • Advocate for participants in case conferences and with external services.
  • Assist participants in developing independent living skills and accessing relevant resources.
  • Perform other duties as required, within your skills and capacity.

Skills and Experience:

  • Completed four-year undergraduate or two-year Master's degree accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) status, with specialist skills in supporting people with mental health conditions.
  • Proven ability to build strong professional relationships and work with diverse populations.
  • Experience working with multicultural clients and individuals involved in the justice system is highly desirable.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations, conduct risk assessments, and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Benefits:

  • Work in a supportive and collaborative environment, engaging with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities, including training in mental health and case management.
  • Meaningful work supporting vulnerable populations to achieve better mental health and social outcomes.
  • Flexible working conditions and a focus on work-life balance.
