About the Role:
An exceptional opportunity is available for a dedicated Visual Arts teacher to join a community-oriented school in Newport/Altona starting in Term 1, 2025, in a 0.8 part-time role working with students in years 7-10. The school, catering to approximately 1,000 students from Foundation to Year 12 across three campuses, presents a fantastic chance to be part of a vibrant and supportive educational community. With a strong emphasis on professional development, the school offers learning coaching, ample resources, and support for both graduates and experienced teachers.
Key duties:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Visual Art curriculum aligned with educational standards and guidelines under the Victorian Curriculum, covering various artistic techniques, mediums, and concepts.
- Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating hands-on art projects, demonstrations, and discussions to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of visual art.
- Manage art studio facilities and materials, ensuring a safe and organized environment for artistic exploration and experimentation.
- Teach students proper techniques for using art supplies, equipment, and tools.
- Teach a range of art-related subjects, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, photography, and digital media, to secondary students. Provide instruction in art history, aesthetics, and critique.
- Design and administer assessments, critiques, and portfolio reviews to evaluate students' artistic skills, creativity, and conceptual understanding.
- Organize and curate student art exhibitions, showcases, and displays to celebrate students' artistic achievements and promote their work within the school community and beyond.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Visual Arts department and across other subject areas to create interdisciplinary projects, thematic units, and cross-curricular connections that integrate art with other academic disciplines.
Skills & Experience:
- Current VIT registration
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Demonstrate previous experience in teaching secondary Visual Art in Australia
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).

- Teaching Visual Arts to students in years 7-9 in Altona campus and year 10 in Newport
- Term 1 start in a 0.8 role
- Salary based on experience ($76k-$115k)
