Job Description

The Role:

An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated VCE English Language and Literature, teacher at a well-respected Catholic secondary school in Point Cook, commencing in early March. This full-time position extends through the end of the year, with potential for continuation into 2025. The role involves teaching students in Years 9 and 11-12, with the opportunity to engage students in critical analysis and language structures.

The school is renowned for its strong leadership, supportive community, and state-of-the-art facilities, fostering both academic excellence and personal growth. This is a fantastic chance for an educator passionate about inspiring senior students and making a meaningful impact in a collaborative learning environment.

Key Duties:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the Victorian Curriculum (Year 9) and VCAA Study Designs (VCE English Language).
  • Teach core literacy skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) to Year 9 students and advanced language analysis to VCE students.
  • Use diverse teaching methods to cater to varying learning styles and needs.
  • Design, administer, and mark formative and summative assessments and provide constructive feedback to students to support academic progress.
  • Guide VCE English Language students through Units 1-4, focusing on metalanguage, discourse analysis, and language variation.
  • Prepare students for SACs and end-of-year exams with targeted revision sessions

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Hold a valid VIT registration
  • Catholic Accreditation favourable but not essential
  • Experience in English relatated subjects within Australian secondary school settings and VCE experience of at least one years duration
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • An understanding and appreciation of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions are essential for teaching within the Catholic system, or a preparedness to be working within this system
