Role Overview

Teaching in a regional school offers opportunities to diversify teaching knowledge. Resourcefulness and enthusiasm are key elements to managing the dynamics of this role. Collaborating with other teaching staff to deliver a rich learning environment is dependent on individuals who are dedicated and committed.

2. Purpose Of The Position

To provide quality instruction to students within the College's values, aims and practices by:

a) developing, providing and evaluating teaching, learning, assessment and reporting practices to meet the diverse and holistic needs of individual students;

b) demonstrating an active, cooperative and enthusiastic involvement within the spiritual, academic, sporting, cultural, and social dimensions of college life;

c) providing for the physical, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing and safety of students at school and enhance their overall development towards effective citizenship and mature Christian adulthood (Learning for Life).

The ideal candidates will need experience of teaching in one or more of the below subjects;

  • Year 7-10 HPE,
  • Year 11-12 Physical Education
  • Year 7-10 Science,
  • Year 11 Science in Practice (vocational level),
  • Year 7-10 Maths,
  • Year 11 - 12 General Maths

3. Selection Criteria

● Have a personal faith in Jesus Christ and be an active member of a Christian Church.

● Be in agreement with the College's core purpose and values.

● Have a professionally recognised teaching qualification.

● Meet the National Professional Standards for Teachers.

● Hold a current Queensland College of Teachers registration.

Specific to this role, applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to:

● Plan, prepare and deliver quality and effective teaching, learning, assessment and reporting practices that are consistent with the AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers, ACARA and QCAA guidelines, curriculum policies and educational trends.

● Maintain teaching competency and currency of knowledge as required by the college and other relevant statutory authorities through regular self-evaluation and commitment to professional development.

● Develop a supportive learning environment and use effective behaviour management practices.

● Work collaboratively as a team, including clear and kind communication within the college and community.

● Implement the College's Christian philosophy in the classroom and other aspects of college life in a natural and spontaneous way that will foster faith.

● Understand and follow the College's policies and procedures on all matters.

● Actively contribute to a broad range of school activities as a member of the college team
