About the Role:

Tradewind is proud to partner with an excellent Independent Catholic Girls' School located in Melbourne's West. We are seeking an experienced Science teacher for an exciting full-time position commencing in Term 1, 2025. This role not only involves teaching Science to students in Years 7-10, with a focus on both general and environmental science electives, but also includes a leadership opportunity (POL2) to oversee the Learning and Instructional model of the Science faculty. Key duties:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive science curriculum aligned with educational standards and guidelines, covering various disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and environmental science under the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Guide and monitor the science faculty, ensuring that lessons are conducted in alignment with the school's teaching and learning instructional model.
  • Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and inquiry-based activities.
  • Manage laboratory facilities and equipment, ensuring a safe and organized environment for conducting experiments and investigations. Teach students proper laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and ethical practices in scientific research.
  • Design and administer assessments, tests, and experiments to evaluate students' understanding and mastery of scientific concepts and skills
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay updated on best practices in science education, teaching methodologies, curriculum developments, and technology integration. Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences relevant to science teaching.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must hold unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Current VIT registration is essential
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Science in Australia- Catholic school experience advantageous
  • Demonstrate experience in leadership within a school setting
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
