Job Description

The Role:

Tradewind is thrilled to partner with a prestigious independent grammar school in Melbourne's West, seeking a dedicated History teacher for Years 7-10 starting in Term 1. This role offers a unique chance to engage students in Australian History and WWII, fostering critical thinking and historical inquiry. Key Duties:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the Victorian Curriculum for History, covering core historical periods like Australian History, World War I & II, and other global events.
  • Teach students to analyse primary and secondary sources, debate perspectives, and develop historical arguments, encouraging critical inquiry, evidence-based reasoning, and reflective thinking.
  • Use diverse teaching strategies, including project-based learning, group work, and technology integration.
  • Design assessments that measure students' understanding of historical concepts and skills, providing timely and constructive feedback to support student growth and learning.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning to stay updated on historical scholarship and pedagogical best
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, cross-curricular projects, and school initiatives. practices.

Skills & Experience:

  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Teaching Qualifications
  • Current VIT registration
  • Experience in teaching Secondary Humanities/History in Australia essential
  • Ability to provide contact details for at least two education-based references from within the last 5 years
