The Role:

Are you an enthusiastic 7-12 Dance teacher ready to make a difference in a vibrant and unique teaching and learning community? Key Duties

  • Teach dance according to the Victorian Curriculum, integrating various styles and techniques (e.g., ballet, contemporary, jazz, etc.).
  • Focus on both practical dance skills and theoretical knowledge, such as the history of dance, choreography, and performance analysis.
  • Develop lesson plans that align with the curriculum and suit the varying skill levels of students and encourage balanced approach between skill-building and creative expression, allowing students to explore and develop personal artistry.
  • Assess students through practical performances, choreography tasks, reflective journals, and written assignments, adhering to the achievement standards set by the Victorian Curriculum.

  • Prepare students for school events, performances, and assessments, fostering collaboration and ensemble work.
  • Stay current with the latest trends in dance education and pedagogical methods.
  • Collaborate with other teachers in the arts department for interdisciplinary projects, such as school musicals or community performances.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Hold a valid VIT registration
  • CECV Accreditation to teach in a Catholic School (or working towards)- school can support this
  • Experience in 7-12 Dance advantageous- graduates welcome to apply
  • Minimum 4-year bachelor's degree containing a teaching qualification, with further study an advantage
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years from upper management
  • An understanding and appreciation of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions are essential for teaching within the Catholic system, or a preparedness to be working within this system
