About the Role:
A fantastic opportunity is available for a creative Visual Art Teacher to join an esteemed Catholic school in Melton, starting from early September until late November. This full-time role involves teaching students in grades 7-10 at the Melton campus, with the potential for extension into an ongoing position. Graduates are welcome to apply and will be supported throughout. Key duties:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Visual Art curriculum aligned with educational standards and guidelines under the Victorian Curriculum, covering various artistic techniques, mediums, and concepts.
- Create engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, incorporating hands-on art projects, demonstrations, and discussions to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of visual art.
- Manage art studio facilities and materials, ensuring a safe and organized environment for artistic exploration and experimentation.
- Teach students proper techniques for using art supplies, equipment, and tools.
- Teach a range of art-related subjects, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, photography, and digital media, to secondary students. Provide instruction in art history, aesthetics, and critique.
- Design and administer assessments, critiques, and portfolio reviews to evaluate students' artistic skills, creativity, and conceptual understanding.
- Organize and curate student art exhibitions, showcases, and displays to celebrate students' artistic achievements and promote their work within the school community and beyond.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Visual Arts department and across other subject areas to create interdisciplinary projects, thematic units, and cross-curricular connections that integrate art with other academic disciplines.
Skills & Experience:
- Current VIT registration
- Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Visual Art
- Previous experience teaching within the Catholic System advantageous
- Graduates welcome to apply
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
