About the Role:
An outstanding opportunity awaits a passionate Art/Media teacher to join a Christian-focused school in Taylors Hill, in Melbourne's West, beginning in Semester 2. Work with students in years 9-12 in this predominantly Art, teaching role. This wonderful Christian school, serving around 1300 students from years 7-12 across two campuses, maintains excellent student behaviour, offers learning coaching, and boasts ample resources.

Key duties:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in art and media studies to secondary students, including those preparing for VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education).
  • Developing curriculum materials, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with educational standards and student learning objectives.
  • Providing instruction in various art mediums, techniques, and concepts, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, film, and digital media.
  • Facilitating student exploration and experimentation with different artistic styles, processes, and technologies.
  • Supporting students in developing their creative and critical thinking skills, as well as their ability to analyse and interpret visual media.
  • Providing constructive feedback on student work and assessing their progress through assignments, projects, and examinations- in particular VCE level assessments.
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on developments in the field of art and media education.
  • Providing pastoral care and support to students, including spiritual guidance, counselling, and mentorship as required.
  • Incorporating Christian teachings and ethics into classroom discussions and interactions with students.
  • Upholding the mission, vision, and values of the school and actively contributing to its Christian ethos.

Skills & Experience:

  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching secondary Art 7-12, in particular VCE
  • Christian/Catholic School experience highly regarded
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
