Special Education Teacher
Rate: AU$78,021 - AU$115,737 per annum + super

About the Role:
We're looking for a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join a Special Developmental School near Lower Templestowe, starting in Term 1 for an ongoing role. You'll create tailored educational programs for students with diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment. The ideal candidate excels in communication and organization, adapting lessons to meet individual education plans (IEPs). While special education experience is not required, a strong commitment to fostering student growth and independence is essential.
Key Duties:
- Building Supportive Relationships: Establish strong, supportive connections with students, fostering their confidence and independence.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with teaching assistants and specialists, regularly communicating with parents regarding student progress.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment, implementing behaviour management strategies.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and workshops to enhance teaching practices in special education.
- Lesson Planning and Delivery: Develop and adapt individualized lesson plans to cater to diverse student needs using varied teaching methods.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Completed relevant qualifications in Education
- Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
- Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Ability to provide two education-based references from within the last five years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable)
Desired:
- Previous experience teaching in special education or working with students with diverse learning needs
