Job Description

Are you a passionate and experienced Science leader in search of your next position? Tradewind are working with a co-educational Catholic School near Stanhope Gardens who are looking for a new head for their science department. This is a full-time, permanent position beginning in January 2025.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive personalised learning, goal setting, and coaching for students and staff, fostering a culture of growth and collaboration.
  • Inspire and guide others using expertise in the GROWTH model, positive psychology, growth mindset, and restorative justice.
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with staff, students, and the broader school community to support individual and collective development.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote a shared vision for learning and growth.
  • Support the development and implementation of personalised learning plans, including LAP, NCCD, and Student-Led Conferences.
  • Use assessment data to identify barriers to learning and improve teaching practices and student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design, evaluate, and refine teaching programs, integrating innovative and evidence-based approaches.
  • Actively engage in professional learning and discussions, contributing to the development of peers and the wider school community.
  • Model ethical behaviour and professionalism, fostering safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments.
  • Demonstrate expertise in teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills, exemplifying best practices in education.
  • Strengthen connections between school, home, and the community to enrich students' social and intellectual development.
  • Provide tailored support for students with diverse learning needs, adapting teaching strategies to meet their evolving requirements.
  • Show passion for transformational education aligned with the values of a faith-based learning environment.

Prerequisites:

  • Eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
  • Tertiary Qualification (minimum 4-year degree, or 75% complete)
  • Valid Working with Children Check (for employment purposes)
  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references
