Job Description

Are you in North Brisbane and looking for a new job where you can:

  • Make a real difference in someone's life
  • Help shape the future of young people in the local community
  • Show your passion and build connections that can last a lifetime

The Opportunity

We are looking for passionate Youth Workers to work directly with young people who are vulnerable and in need of assistance.

You will be the person in their lives to help them build life skills, healthy attachments, and most importantly be there for them when they need you the most. You will work through tough times and challenges together, knowing that the ultimate outcome is guiding them to live a fulfilled and independent life.

Advocating for a young person's sense of belonging while encouraging their independence is a deeply rewarding career path.

Travel around the North Brisbane region will be essential for this role.

This role is for full-time employment and requires availability across 7 days. We operate a roster of a minimum of 5 x 24-hours shifts per fortnight.

Benefits

  • Paid 3-week induction program
  • Opportunities to develop & advance your career with internal promotions and further training.
  • Work vehicle provided on shift.
  • 6 weeks annual leave.
  • Access to annual bonus & generous salary packaging options.
  • Above-award wage rates.
  • Working with an inclusive and valued workforce.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building rapport and trust with young people, acting as a role model with residential house duties.
  • Navigate through their personal challenges, providing both emotional & professional support in collaboration with the team of Youth Workers, Case Managers, and other relevant community services.
  • Help engage in post-crisis support functions to better support young people with complex needs and behaviours.

How We Support You

Our client offers a comprehensive induction program that encompasses classroom, online and on-the-job training. The induction program is designed to provide qualified Youth Workers with a solid understanding of a 'day in the life' of a Youth Worker as well as the skills, knowledge, and practice, to work within our Integrated Practice Framework.

Due to the trauma sensitive work of our Youth Workers, we require our inductee Youth Workers to successfully complete the Induction Program before they can be assigned to a young person. As such, employment offers are made on a casual basis and following the successful completion of the Induction Program, permanent, full-time offers are made. Candidates will need to be available to attend the Induction Program which will take approximately 3 weeks.

About You
To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Hold a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or hold recognized qualifications).
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
  • Hold and maintain a full Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to openly engage and build trust with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Implement strategies and tactics to mentor and teach our youth necessary life skills.
  • Maintain a level of grit and resilience to overcome challenges that are confronting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results.

We look forward to receiving your application
