Overview:

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to support within a new residential withdrawal service through the application of related nursing interventions to clients within a Therapeutic Community.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team and be responsible for the medical management of our client's alcohol or other drug withdrawal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide clients through safe substance withdrawal processes in a non-medical setting.
  • Expertly initiate and stabilise clients on Opiod Assessment Therapy, transforming lives with compassion and expertise.
  • Skillfully transition clients from Methadone to Suboxone or Long-Acting Injectable Buprenorphine (LAIB), enhancing treatment effectiveness and client comfort.
  • Implement vital harm reduction strategies such as safer injecting practices and Naloxone training, saving lives and empowering clients.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to inform personalised treatment plans and optimise client outcomes.
  • Contribute to evolving treatment plans guided by client needs and medical expertise, ensuring holistic care and long-term success.
  • Forge strong connections with pharmacotherapy networks and access DACAS resources to enhance treatment options and client support

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant Tertiary Nursing qualification (Div 1) and registration with the Australia Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Certificate IV in AOD or have completed the required competencies* (or able to complete within the first 12 months of employment) and competencies in dual diagnosis (or able to complete within the first 24 months of employment).
  • Well-developed nursing skills, including comprehensive assessment, crisis intervention, problem-solving, conflict resolution, decision-making, goal setting, case planning, development, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience with the provision of nursing interventions with people who use drugs and alcohol and are withdrawing from use.
