About the Role:
Calling all committed Primary STEM teachers! Tradewind is partnering with a small Catholic Primary School in Hoppers Crossing to provide an exceptional STEM opportunity starting from now and extending into 2025. This role entails a 4-day teaching position as part of the specialist team, with a contract starting in this term and continuing until the end of the year and into 2025. You'll have the chance to work with students from Foundation to year 6, with dedicated planning time alongside other specialist teachers at the school. Key duties:
- Design and develop engaging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) lesson plans and teaching materials aligned with the Victorian curriculum standards and objectives.
- Deliver high-quality instruction in STEM subjects to primary students, utilizing innovative teaching methods and hands-on activities to foster student engagement and understanding.
- Incorporate technology tools and resources into STEM lessons to enhance learning experiences and develop students' digital literacy skills.
- Implement project-based learning activities that encourage students to explore real-world STEM concepts, solve problems, and collaborate with their peers.
- Organize and supervise hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and STEM-related activities to promote inquiry-based learning and critical thinking skills.
- Collaborate with other teachers, STEM coordinators, and school administrators to integrate STEM concepts across the curriculum and promote interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Skills & Experience:
- Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Current VIT registration
- Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Primary in Australia, STEM experience highly regarded
- Experience working with a Catholic school advantageous
- Ability to provide contact details for two-three education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
Offering:
- Flexible start from now- extending into 2025
- Flexible 4 days a week, or full time if requested
- Scope to plan and run the STEM/Digi Tech program as part of the specialist team
- Salary ranging from $78,000-$116,000 based on proven experience
