About the Role:
An exciting opportunity awaits a passionate Primary Music Teacher to join an International Baccalaureate (IB) school in Tarneit, Melbourne's west. Starting in 2025, this part-time role (3 days a week) offers a chance to ignite creativity and nurture musical talents across the Foundation to Year 6 levels as part of the specialist subjects team.

Key duties:
- Planning and delivering engaging music lessons that cater to the needs and interests of students
- Creating or following the Victorian curriculum that aligns with educational standards and objectives, incorporating elements such as music theory, history, performance skills, and appreciation.
- Teaching students how to play various musical instruments, such as the piano, guitar, recorder, or drums, depending on available resources and student interests.
- Introducing students to music theory concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony, notation, and scales, in age-appropriate ways.
- Fostering an appreciation for different styles and genres of music through listening activities, discussions, and exposure to a diverse range of musical works.
- Organizing and facilitating opportunities for students to showcase their musical talents through concerts or school performances.
- Assessing students' progress and understanding through various means, such as performance evaluations, written assignments, and practical assessments.
- Continuously engaging in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in music education and to enhance teaching skills.
- Managing musical instruments, resources, and materials effectively to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
Skills & Experience:
- Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Have a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
- Previous experience in teaching Primary Music in Australia advantageous
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
Offering:
- Starting in Term 1, 2025, teaching 3 days a week (0.6)
- Instructing students across F-6 in a small teaching team of two within the music program
