Job Description

Are you a passionate PE teacher looking for a new opportunity? An outstanding role awaits a dedicated Secondary PE teacher to join an accredited International Baccalaureate Islamic school, in Tarneit with a flexible Term 2 start. This exceptional school, serving around 1600 students from years P-12. The school supports both graduates and experienced teachers, maintains excellent student behaviour and is welcoming of teachers of any faith.

Key duties:

  • Designing and implementing engaging and developmentally appropriate PE lessons that align with the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Providing clear instruction and demonstration of movement skills, sports techniques, and fitness exercises.
  • Conducting physical fitness assessments to evaluate students' strength, flexibility, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness levels.
  • Ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment by implementing appropriate safety procedures and risk management strategies during physical activities and sports.
  • Organizing and maintaining PE equipment, sports gear, and facilities to ensure they are safe, functional, and accessible for students.
  • Integrating health education components into PE lessons to promote students' understanding of health-related topics such as nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and the benefits of physical activity.
  • Assessing students' progress and achievement in PE through various forms of assessment, such as skill demonstrations, performance tasks, fitness tests, and written assignments.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Hold VIT registration
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching secondary PE
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (including upper management reference)
