About the Role:
An exciting opportunity awaits a passionate Primary/Junior Secondary Music teacher to join a welcoming school in Caroline Springs, Melbourne's West, starting in Term 3. This full-time, permanent role suits educators at any career stage, from graduates to experienced teachers. You'll teach Music to students in Years 3-9 within a small, supportive faculty. The school fosters a collaborative environment, valuing professional growth, inclusivity, and student engagement. Key duties:

  • Planning and delivering engaging music lessons that cater to the needs and interests of students
  • Creating or following the Victorian curriculum that aligns with educational standards and objectives, incorporating elements such as music theory, history, performance skills, and appreciation.
  • Teaching students how to play various musical instruments, such as the piano, guitar, recorder, or drums, depending on available resources and student interests.
  • Introducing students to music theory concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony, notation, and scales, in age-appropriate ways.
  • Fostering an appreciation for different styles and genres of music through listening activities, discussions, and exposure to a diverse range of musical works.
  • Assessing students' progress and understanding through various means, such as performance evaluations, written assignments, and practical assessments.
  • Managing musical instruments, resources, and materials effectively to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must hold unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Current VIT registration is essential
  • Proven experience teaching Music at a Primary/Secondary school in Australia
  • Graduates are welcome to apply and will be supported
  • Ability to provide two education-based references from the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable)
