Mental Health Nurse

We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Nurse to provide clinical care, treatment planning, and support to young people in a custodial setting. This role focuses on delivering evidence-based mental health interventions, ensuring continuity of care, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments in an outpatient setting.
• Deliver client-centered treatment planning and review, aligning with goal-directed care plans.
• Administer and monitor medication management, including depot injections.
• Provide brief interventions and mental health support for young people with complex needs.
• Liaise with external health providers, court systems, and family members to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in case conferences and clinical handovers to support integrated care.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and legal standards.
• Work in a rotating roster, including day, evening, and night shifts.

• Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with additional mental health experience.
• Experience in forensic, custodial, or youth justice settings (desirable).
• Strong knowledge of mental health conditions, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and risk assessment skills.
• Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Clearance.
• Full COVID-19 and immunisation compliance as per health sector requirements.
