About the Role:
Attention all Junior Secondary Hums teachers! Tradewind is excited to collaborate with an F-9 school in Melbourne's West, teaching Humanities to students in years 7-9, The role begins in early Term 2, offering a full-time ongoing position. Key duties:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in Humanities subjects such as History, Geography, Civics, Economics, and Social Studies, under the Victorian Curriculum.
  • Providing clear and effective instruction to students, utilising various teaching methods and resources to facilitate learning and understanding of Humanities topics.
  • Utilising digital resources, interactive whiteboards, educational software, and online platforms to support instruction and assessment.
  • Developing and adapting curriculum materials, including textbooks, worksheets, and multimedia resources, to meet the needs of diverse learners and enhance student engagement.
  • Establishing and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student success.
  • Implementing effective behaviour management strategies to address disciplinary issues and promote respectful and cooperative behaviour.
  • Collaborating with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and well-being. Communicating regularly with parents regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development activities to enhance teaching skills, stay abreast of current educational trends and research, and meet licensure or certification requirements.

Skills & Experience:

  • Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Must have a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching secondary Hums beneficial
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
