About the Role:
A fantastic opportunity awaits a dedicated Italian LOTE teacher to join a Catholic school in St Albans, located in Melbourne's West, with an immediate start and continuation into 2025. This full-time role involves teaching Italian to students in Years 7-10 within a growing school community, which values collaboration and active learning. The school also welcomes teachers with additional methods alongside LOTE. Despite the increasing student population, the school maintains a close-knit, supportive environment. Key duties:
- Develop age-appropriate and engaging curriculum plans that align the Victorian Curriculum for Italian LOTE.
- Deliver effective and interactive Italian language instruction, focusing on vocabulary, pronunciation, and language structures.
- Introduce aspects of Italian culture into lessons through age-appropriate activities, stories, and projects to foster cultural awareness.
- Design assessments to evaluate their language acquisition and provide constructive feedback to students
- Collaborate with other teachers and departments to integrate Italian language and culture into broader educational themes and projects.
- Stay informed about developments in language education, attend workshops, and engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and methodologies.
Skills & Experience:
- Current VIT registration
- Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
- Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Italian LOTE
- Previous experience teaching within the Catholic System advantageous
- Graduates welcome to apply
- Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
