Are you an experienced HR professional with a passion for sustainability and the environment? Join our dynamic team as a Human Resources Officer focused on Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) services. This 6-month contract position offers an exciting opportunity to support and strengthen the HR function within a fast-paced, environmentally-conscious organization.
You will play a key role in overseeing HR processes, recruitment, employee engagement, and compliance within our Food Organics and Garden Organics operations. The successful candidate will bring strong HR expertise, recruitment, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to supporting a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for FOGO roles, including job postings, screening, interviews, and the onboarding of new employees.
- Employee Relations: Foster a positive workplace culture by addressing employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and promoting effective communication across teams.
- Training & Development: Support employee development initiatives and coordinate training programs to ensure staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in FOGO operations.
- Compliance & Policies: Ensure adherence to HR policies, legal requirements, and safety regulations related to environmental operations and sustainability practices.
- Performance Management: Assist in performance appraisals, employee feedback, and creating development plans to enhance individual and team performance.
- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate employee records, prepare reports, and support HR-related administrative functions.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in HR, with a background in recruitment, employee relations, and policy management. Council expiration will be highly regarded but not essential.
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives, particularly in the areas of waste management, food organics, and garden organics (FOGO), is highly desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach to managing HR issues.
Qualifications:
- A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous HR experience, preferably in environmental, sustainability, or public sector roles.
- Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
