Job Description

An esteemed independent school in Kew is seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Diverse Learning to lead and inspire inclusive education, including support for gifted and talented students, commencing in Term 1, 2025. This part-time (0.5) leadership and (0.5) teaching role is ongoing and offers a unique opportunity to foster excellence in education across a wide spectrum of student needs.

We welcome applications from educators with a strong background in diverse learning, leadership expertise, and a commitment to nurturing student potential and achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership (0.5):

  • Lead the school's diverse learning programs, ensuring inclusive practices for students with additional needs, including gifted and talented learners.
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, support, and extend students across the learning spectrum.
  • Provide professional development and resources for staff to enhance inclusive and differentiated teaching practices.
  • Collaborate with leadership and teaching teams to align support strategies with the school's vision and values.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure measurable outcomes for students with diverse learning profiles.
  • Build relationships with families, specialists, and external agencies to deliver holistic support for students.

Teaching (0.5):

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to meet the needs of all students, including those requiring extension or additional support.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom culture that celebrates diversity and encourages all students to thrive.
  • Use data-driven practices to assess, monitor, and support student progress, providing timely feedback and interventions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share strategies and approaches for diverse learners, including enrichment opportunities for gifted students.

Skills & Experience:

  • Completed relevant Qualifications in Education
  • Maintain a valid and up-to-date VIT registration
  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).
