Job Description

Tradewind is partnering with a well-respected, independent, co-educational Christian school located in the beautiful Northern Beaches of Sydney. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced French teacher to lead the school's growing Languages Department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving school community in a leadership role that fosters student engagement in language learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Languages Department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning practices
  • Teach French (and potentially an additional language if applicable) across various year levels
  • Implement strategies to cater for diverse learners in a dynamic educational environment
  • Provide effective leadership, mentorship, and professional development for language teachers
  • Build strong relationships with staff, students, and parents, fostering a positive learning culture
  • Oversee administrative responsibilities, including assessment and reporting
  • Work collaboratively with the executive team to align department goals with school-wide initiatives
  • Contribute to the Christian ethos and values of the school community

Essential Requirements:

Demonstrated:

  • Qualifications to teach French (an additional language is advantageous but not required)
  • Experience achieving strong academic results through engaging and effective teaching strategies
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to inspire students and colleagues, fostering a passion for language learning
  • A relational approach to working with colleagues, students, and parents
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

Prerequisites:

  • Eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
  • Tertiary Qualification (minimum 4-year degree, or 75% complete)
  • Valid Working with Children Check (for employment purposes)
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Ability to provide two education-based references and a Christian church reference
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to Christian education
