Job Description

Job Summary: The Clinical Advisor provides evidence-based guidance, treatment planning, and referral services for Drug Court participants. This role involves conducting comprehensive drug and alcohol assessments to inform judicial decisions, liaising with treatment providers, and supporting participants in achieving their treatment goals. The position is well-suited for AOD nurses, Counsellors, Phychologists and Support Workers, particularly those with or willing to work towards a Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD).

Key Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive drug and alcohol assessments to inform judicial decisions regarding Drug and Alcohol Treatment Orders.

  • Develop and implement tailored treatment plans for Drug Court participants.

  • Liaise with alcohol and other drug (AOD) services to ensure continuity of care.

  • Provide expert clinical advice to the judiciary, Drug Court team, and other stakeholders.

  • Participate in Drug Court hearings and case conferences to support participant progress.

  • Offer secondary consultation to the judiciary, court staff, treatment agencies, and government or non-government organizations.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant research, evidence-based practices, and legislative changes in the AOD sector.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in alcohol and other drug treatment, mental health, or forensic settings.

  • Strong assessment and case management skills within AOD or related clinical practice.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches for substance dependency.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.

  • Excellent communication skills to engage with participants and stakeholders.

  • A Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or willingness to work towards obtaining one.

  • A current driver's licence.
