About the Role
As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will work closely with the CEO to drive the strategic leadership and transformation of the organisation's corporate services. This pivotal role involves streamlining operations, enhancing systems, and ensuring efficient service delivery to meet the organisation's vision and objectives.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Operational Excellence:
Lead operational functions across the organisation, including administration, HR, and IT. Enhance efficiency, optimise processes, and champion innovation and best practices. - Strategic Leadership:
Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership to execute the organisation's strategic plan. Mentor and guide a high-performing management team to deliver exceptional results. - Financial Oversight:
Partner with the CFO to maintain robust financial controls, budgeting, and reporting processes. Ensure compliance with funding and regulatory requirements. - Risk & Compliance:
Oversee the organisation's quality assurance systems. Proactively manage risks and ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and policy standards. - Stakeholder Engagement:
Build meaningful relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, funders, and community members. Represent the organisation at board meetings and strategic forums. - Team and Culture Development:
Cultivate a positive, collaborative workplace culture aligned with the organisation's mission. Foster open communication and teamwork across all departments.
What We're Looking For
- Proven leadership experience in a senior management role.
- Strong strategic planning and operational management skills.
- Exceptional ability to lead, mentor, and inspire diverse teams.
- Solid experience with compliance, risk management, and the not-for-profit sector.
- Highly developed organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written communication skills and the ability to deliver clear, concise reports.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (post-graduate qualifications are highly regarded).

Additional Requirements
- Willingness to obtain a valid criminal history check and Working with Children Check.
- Availability for occasional remote travel, including overnight stays.
- Current Australian driver's licence (manual 4WD training can be provided).
