About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has opened up for a passionate Agricultural Science teacher to join a Catholic school set on over 1000 acres of pristine land in Sunbury, this term. This full-time, ongoing role involves teaching Years 7-10 within a vertical learning structure, offering a unique blend of theoretical and practical classes. The school's impressive facilities include an experienced farm staff, livestock (cows, sheep, bees), vegetable gardens, and fruit orchards-everything needed to run a successful agricultural program. Whether you're a recent graduate or an experienced educator in this field, this is your chance to be part of a dynamic and well-resourced educational community!

Key duties:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the Victorian Curriculum, focusing on agricultural science and related subjects for secondary students.
  • Teach both the theoretical aspects of agricultural science (e.g., soil science, crop production, animal husbandry) and practical skills (e.g., farm management, machinery use).
  • Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including practical assessments, exams, projects, and assignments.
  • Provide regular feedback and report on student progress to parents and school administration.
  • Teach and promote sustainable agricultural practices, focusing on environmental stewardship, resource management, and the integration of modern technology in farming.
  • Work with other teachers and school staff to integrate agricultural education across different subjects and contribute to whole-school initiatives.
  • Maintain high safety standards in all agricultural activities, ensuring compliance with school policies and relevant occupational health and safety regulations.

Skills & Experience:

  • Current VIT registration
  • Have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Demonstrate previous experience in teaching Agricultural Science in a school setting a must
  • Catholic School experience highly regarded
  • Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years (student-teacher mentors are acceptable).

  • Commencing as a full-time, ongoing position in Term 3, 2024
  • Instructing students in years 7-10 in a Catholic school environment
  • Mixed classes of year levels and class sizes ranging from 15-25
