Why such different professions?
At Tradewind Australia we work with social workers and casual relief teachers (CRTs) and are sometimes asked, ‘why such different professions?’. To our way of thinking there are more similarities than differences.
They both start with a passion to empower vulnerable people to achieve positive life outcomes. Teachers through instilling a desire to learn more about the world around them and the motivation to follow a dream. Social workers by supporting individuals through difficult situations and engendering the strength to live a life without limits.
CRT’s and social workers need to be flexible, because no two days are the same, and carry their own stationary, because pens/ whiteboard markers/ coffee mugs have a tendency to walk off under their own steam. Self-care in both professions is vital. There are some days when you have to look in the mirror and know you handled a situation to the best of your ability and that is OK. You also have to know that some days the only person telling you this is that friend in the mirror and that is OK too.
Both professions perform a role that most people would struggle with, dealing with more paperwork than is necessary, and do it for less money than they deserve.
Finally, both teachers and social workers are superhuman! They provide an outstanding service to society putting up with the above and more, usually with no complaints and a smile on their face.
A good recruitment agency should support them in this. At Tradewind Australia we know that when you have good people working for you, the best thing to do is stay out of their way and let them get on with it. Our role is to find that next opportunity, the perfect job or the job that is perfect for right now. If you want to hear more about the great people we work with or find out more about what options lie beyond the horizon, get in touch and we’ll leap into gear.
